Wild Couple Session In Vasquez Rocks
Cocoricooo! That’s the scream of the Rooster in French, our animal emblem. That’s what my heart sang when I met Mégane and Thomas on the Vasquez Rocks parking lot and when they showed me the outfit their were thinking about for their couple session. I mean… I know I’m not supposed to brag about it because i’m French myself but heck yes! The French and their sense of fashion did it again! The location was calling for a wild couple to pose for me, and that’s what I got here. But let me tell you more about Mégane and Thomas and their sweet Romance…
Mégane and Thomas are from France but lived in Brighton, in the UK, for a couple of years. Mégane has a vintage boutique (Mama Magma) where she can share her love of fashion with the world, Thomas is a physician genius working in a lab during the day, making dope dark music at night. They were both happily in love and got married by the Sea.
Pretty quickly after their wedding day, the world got crazy and everything shut down. But not everything was all dark as they got a great news: Thomas’ job was moving him to the USA. No time for photos by the British sea, they will have their first couple session in the rugged and wild desert of California, with me.
Their love for Wilderness and Rocknroll completed the vibe of this sacred, magical, fantastic, out-of-Earth place that is Vasquez Rock.
The day of the session, we drove North from Los Angeles in direction of Santa Clarita, Agua Dulce. The warm sun was slowly replaced by dark clouds. We didn’t get the bright golden light that everybody is raving about in California, but as a photographer perspective, this was the best weather we could get to capture the mood of this place. Give me all the dark cloud in the world in Vasquez Rocks please!
Once we parked, I met the cutest French girl, getting ready to take photos, sitting at the back of her Gold Break Volvo 1991. (By the way I have the same car!). Thomas was wandering around, impregnating himself with the vives of the location. It always get me, coming in a wild place like this gives me all the feels too!
We started taking photos with the Giant Vasquez Rocks in the background (if it reminds you of Star Trek, you are not wrong!). I knew straight away Mégane and Thomas they were up for a good laugh together. Braving the intense cold, we hiked around, getting closer and closer to the giant rock, passing by the Tataviam people murals and the grinding rocks. Not a soul around. Only the sound of the wind, the perfume of the native bushes and two hearts beating in rhythm together wandering in the wild California desert.
